PURPOSE:

To define employment conditions of regular, full-time employees classified as Administrator.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITY:

Each Executive shall determine and assign responsibilities to each Administrator in his or her unit, and shall also establish the general limits of the annual work schedule associated with those responsibilities, keeping in mind that forty (40) hours a week is a minimum requirement, and that many assignments require longer hours.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATIONS:

Each Administrator shall receive a performance evaluation on an annual basis. The performance evaluation process for Administrators is designed to assess effectiveness of leadership and to identify areas of strength as well as potential professional development opportunities.  The annual administrator performance evaluation consists of evaluating progress made on annual goals, behavioral competencies, and the support of key strategic initiatives.  Each executive is responsible for ensuring that the administrators in their areas receive annual reviews. 

In addition to the annual evaluation process, Administrators will participate periodically in a comprehensive assessment designed as a development opportunity. The purpose of the assessment is to gather input from a variety of stakeholders to identify areas of strength, suggestions for improvement and potential professional development opportunities.

VACATION:

Vacation is accumulated at the rate of two (2) days for each month of regular service, with a maximum allowable accumulation of thirty (30) days; beginning with the twenty sixth (26th) year of continuous, regular service, the rate is two and one-quarter (2-1/4) days a month, with a maximum accumulation of thirty-three (33) days.

After one (1) continuous year of a regular service, an Administrator who terminates service shall receive the cash equivalent of unused vacation not to exceed the allowable maximum accumulation for the method of calculating payment of unused vacation, and HR50 for special provisions at retirement).

SICK LEAVE:

An Administrator is entitled to leave with pay (as needed) for absences due to illness or injury.

The chart that follows shall be used for guidance. Exceptions may be considered by the appropriate senior University officer.

Administrators are eligible for paid time off for the following holidays:

  • New Year's Day
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Juneteenth
  • Independence Day
  • A Personal Holiday
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • December 25 and five additional days in December

When Christmas and New Year's Day fall on these days, the Winter Break holidays will be:

NOTE: If a holiday listed above occurs on a Saturday, the University will observe it official on the Friday immediately preceding the holiday. If a holiday listed above occurs on a Sunday, the University will observe it officially on the following Monday. 

RESIGNATION:

An Administrator should give adequate notice prior to the effective date of his or her resignation. Ordinarily, this should be at least three months.

GENERAL POLICY GUIDELINE:

Administrators are at will employees. In general, policies affecting exempt staff, as found in HR34, shall be used for guidance in personnel matters affecting Administrators. Exceptions may be considered by the appropriate senior University officer.
